Description

A blistered, chewy crust from the stone oven is the point of Salt, parked directly on Klong Dao Beach’s northern stretch. The Margherita, pepperoni and Quattro Formaggi are the safe bets; the Hawaiian also has a loyal following, which is either reassuring or proof civilisation remains unfinished.

The pizzas run Neapolitan-leaning, with a soft raised edge and enough char to taste the fire. Fresh salads, sandwiches, Thai dishes, cold-pressed juices and cocktails fill out the menu, but pizza is why the tables face the sea.

Sunset is the proper time to sit down, especially with a banana colada or cold beer and the tide doing its noisy thing a few metres away. Salt costs more than a local Thai meal, so treat it as a beachfront pizza night.

The oven has finite space, and takeaway orders can take a while during the evening rush. Grab a beachside table early; the crust is good enough that abandoning it feels faintly irresponsible.
