Sai-Naf Thai & Indian Food Restaurant
Description
Butter chicken, malai kofta and garlic naan are the Indian side’s strongest argument, with rich sauces, properly cooked basmati rice and naan arriving warm enough to tear apart immediately. The dal has proper depth too, which is rarer on Lanta than it should be.
Thai cooking is no filler act. Go hard on the fried chicken basil with extra spice, papaya salad, green curry or basil seafood. Sour curry with shrimp and fish brings the heat, while massaman seafood curry lands on the gentler end of the spectrum.
The room is plain and easy to misjudge from the road: simple tables, no decorative theatre, just a kitchen turning out food from fresh ingredients. Meals take time because cooking starts after the order goes in, so arrive before hunger becomes a personality trait.
Portions are generous and prices stay low for the amount of food on the plate. Sai-Naf is for diners happy to settle in and eat properly, especially anyone bored of choosing between Thai food and Indian food for dinner. The cheese naan, chicken skewers with yoghurt sauce, and mango sticky rice make a very convincing case for lingering.
