Roldiya Family Restaurant
Description
The squid panaeng arrives rich, coconut-heavy and properly spiced, while the garlic fried fish is the dish to chase if fresh catch is on hand. Roldiya’s curries carry more flavour than their modest roadside setting has any right to suggest.
The kitchen sits behind a serving window, so the cooking is plainly visible and every plate comes out made to order. Pad Thai, tom kha, green curry, papaya salad and fried curry all land in the same comfort-food territory: big portions, low prices and no decorative nonsense.
Vegetarians and vegans get more than a token tofu option here. Deep-fried mushrooms, curries, stir-fries and coconut soups give a meat-free meal some actual range.
It is a simple shed beside the road with plastic seating and no cooling, so midday heat can turn lunch into a small endurance event. Bring your own beer if that matters; save room for the mango sticky rice, which has no business being this good from a roadside kitchen.
