Description
Chicken khao soi with extra crispy chicken is the order that turns a roadside meal into a small obsession. Phung Kang also nails massaman, Penang curry, green curry and larb kai, with cucumber salad bringing the sharp, cooling side note.
The setup is classic island street food: stainless-steel folding tables, a hot roadside edge, and a dining patch beside the pool. Nothing here is pretending to be a design hotel restaurant, which is a relief after too many menus have acquired typography before flavour.
Fruit smoothies use fruit, and the lemon juice is worth choosing over imported beer. Noodle soup comes with chilli and peanuts for adjusting the heat yourself; use restraint for roughly seven seconds.
Breakfast is on the table alongside the full Thai menu, so it handles an early bowl of noodles as well as dinner curries. Ice speaks excellent English and is the person to find when the menu’s Thai names start looking like a spelling test.
