Description
A hammock hangs over the water behind Peacock Hostel, with Koh Lanta Noi across the channel and boats sliding past close enough to make the setting feel pleasantly improvised. The wooden stilt-house lounge is the reason to stop, even without a bed for the night.
Coffee here has proper espresso behind it, plus iced coffee and Thai tea made with care. Massaman curry is the food order worth making, and the basic breakfasts keep budget mornings from becoming a packet-noodle ceremony.
The dorm setup is fan-cooled, with a large shared room and no air conditioning or hot water. Mosquitoes gather around the waterside location, and the pier-side air carries boat fumes, so light sleepers and fresh-air purists should choose inland accommodation.
Saladan Pier sits about a minute away on foot, which is handy after a ferry arrival and equally handy for an early departure. Peacock suits backpackers who want a social base, a strong coffee, and a retro corner to sit around in; it is not built for polished hotel comfort.
