Papillon Bungalows
Description
Papillon pad thai and the Panang curry are the reason plenty of Long Beach diners end up back here, bungalow key or not. The Thai cooking has bright sauces, proper spice, and a useful little opening act of fresh popcorn.
The bungalows sit among mature trees with enough space between them to avoid hearing the neighbour’s entire holiday podcast. Rooms are simple, clean and air-conditioned, with fridges, separate shower areas, and drinking-water refills on site. Some units show their age, though the place is kept tidy.
A small shaded pool has built-in seating and stays pleasantly low-key through the hot part of the day. Long Beach is a short walk down the lane, emerging near Pangea Bar, and the property is close enough to roadside transport for island exploring without living beside the traffic.
Families get room to spread out, solo travellers get a calm base, and the restaurant makes staying in for dinner a sensible decision. The pool’s leaf cover comes free with the trees – nature’s least efficient umbrella.
