Nisreen Restaurant
Description
Black pepper beef arrives under a properly fried egg, with tender slices of meat, fresh vegetables and enough pepper to wake up a plate of rice. Nisreen does halal Thai food in Klong Khong with more care than the little roadside room suggests.
The chicken curry has a fuller flavour than the usual quick-stop version, and fried shrimp is the smart pick for something crisp and fresh. Fried squid with basil leaves over rice also lands well, especially for anyone who likes basil doing more than decorative leaf duty.
Pad Thai is cheap, neatly plated and not treated as culinary wallpaper. Finish with fried bananas; they are warm, sweet and far more convincing than they have any right to be.
The room is small, clean and stylish, with a high chair and a spotless restroom. Sit down for Thai comfort food, even if the fried bananas are plotting to derail it.
