Mushroom Restaurant
Description
The Pad Thai sauce is made fresh each day, and it shows in a plate that lands balanced, glossy and neither oily nor claggy. Mushroom Restaurant sits on the main road near Relax Bay, handling Thai staples with far more conviction than its sprawling menu first suggests.
Panang curry with tofu is the sleeper hit, properly rich and carrying enough depth to make the tofu worth choosing on purpose. Massaman curry, green curry, hot-pan seafood and fried fish with three sauces are all strong calls. The grilled barracuda is the one to chase if it is available, while mango sticky rice and fruit smoothies finish things without collapsing into sugar paste.
Portions are generous and prices stay local-roadside sensible. Playing cards sit on the tables for the lingering crowd, which is a better use of a restaurant table than staring at a phone while your Chang warms up.
The pizza and broader European section are not why this address matters. Stick with Thai cooking, especially curries, noodle dishes and seafood, and Mushroom becomes a repeat-lunch-and-dinner sort of problem.
