Description

Bitterballen from the Netherlands, mango salad, and spaghetti in Pernod sauce are an unlikely trio, yet Moods pulls them into one very comfortable room. The imported bitterballen are the thing to chase, properly Dutch and dangerously easy to keep ordering.

Breakfast is substantial: eggs, toast, mushrooms, onion, roast tomato, fruit, Greek yogurt, granola and a juice shot. The breakfast platter suits a long, lazy start near Long Beach, especially if you want more than toast performing a brief impression of breakfast.

Thai dishes, vegetarian options, tapas-style plates, pasta, sourdough bread and cocktails give the menu plenty of range. Pad Thai, vegetable Massaman curry, fried prawns and spring rolls are solid picks, while the Mai Tai has earned a following of its own.

The room is the real trapdoor here: deep cushions, comfy seats and enough style to make a quick drink turn into dinner. Moods sits close to the 7-Eleven around Long Beach, but the road frontage is easy to miss; look for the relaxed bar-restaurant with the cushions.
