Description

Tofu pad thai, Massaman curry, tom kha and Thai noodle soup give Long Beach Restaurant its purpose. The Thai cooking is cheap, filling and far more reliable than the western page of the menu. Fresh fish is the other good call, especially for a proper dinner.

The tofu pad thai has enough flavour to satisfy vegetarians without pretending tofu is a personality trait. Massaman curry brings the richer, slower comfort-food option, while tom kha keeps things creamy, sour and sharp. Yellow chicken curry tastes good but arrives in a small portion, so ask for extra vegetables.

Mojitos are worth ordering here, and the coffee avoids the familiar beach-road ritual of drinking lukewarm brown uncertainty. Card payments are accepted, which removes the usual hunt through damp shorts for a baht note.

Keep the order Thai. Spaghetti comes with ketchup-style tomato sauce, and the ham-and-cheese sandwich has no business distracting anyone from curry, noodles or fish.
