Little Hut
Description
Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli lands with the sort of crunch that makes cutlery briefly redundant. Add the pork neck with nam chim jeaw for smoky meat, sharp dipping sauce and zero interest in polite little portions.
The kitchen handles heat properly. Fish pad kra pow, jungle curry and green curry noodles arrive punchy when requested, while the som tum stays balanced between lime, chilli and fish sauce. Tom yum and beef sukiyaki soup are serious reasons to put down the beach-bar menu.
Vegetarians have more to do than pick at plain fried rice. Tofu stir-fried with ginger and oyster sauce, yellow noodles with garlic pepper, and a vegan cashew salad with lime peel and fresh chillies all have actual flavour. Say no fish sauce for vegan dishes.
Breakfast coffee is fine, but Little Hut is built around Thai food with intent. Finish with the oversized mango sticky rice or homemade spring rolls, then accept that the tiny room has quietly ruined a few larger restaurants nearby. The green curry noodles deserve repeat visits.
