Description
Fresh fish goes straight from the beach grill to the table, with sea views doing their bit in the background. Pick your fish, add papaya salad, corn or sweet potato, and keep the spice Thai-level if that’s the point of the exercise.
The Thai food is the sensible choice here. It has proper heat and flavour, while the menu also covers breakfast, pancakes, yoghurt muesli, eggs, pizzas and kids’ meals. Swedish meatballs are available, because Koh Lanta occasionally likes to test international diplomacy.
Accommodation sits beside Klong Dao Beach in simple, clean rooms and bungalows with air-conditioning. The garden, porches and playground give families a useful base, especially at breakfast while small children burn off the energy apparently generated by one pancake.
A hammock in the shade faces the beach, the Wi-Fi reaches the property, and Saladan is a short ride away for the night market. Stay here for beach access, family space and grilled seafood; book somewhere else if a polished resort room is the entire mission.
