Description
Beaded jewellery, scented soaps and rows of fisherman trousers fill Lanta Plaza 555, with enough stalls to keep a determined haggler occupied. The soap stall is the pick for a small gift that doesn’t look like it was bought beside a bucket of fridge magnets.
Food gives the place more purpose than a quick souvenir lap. Grilled seafood, halal dishes, Thai snacks, fruit, pastries, curries, quesadillas and croissants all turn up under the lights. Grab dinner here near the pier, then take fruit or pastries back for breakfast.
Clothing and souvenir stalls repeat plenty of the same stock, so walk the full market before settling on anything. Bargaining is part of the transaction, especially for trousers, T-shirts and branded-copy beachwear. First prices are merely an opening theory.
The northern end has the toilet, useful knowledge once iced drinks and market wandering have formed an alliance. Daytime is quieter for browsing; after dark, the food side has the better energy and the fuller range of stalls.
