Laeley 1,000 Miles
Description
Barracuda fresh from the boat and curry with roti are the reasons to climb up to Laeley 1,000 Miles. Fai cooks Thai food with proper depth, plus crisp spring rolls, Thai soup, breakfast plates and unexpectedly good homemade spaghetti.
The tables sit high on the hillside with a long, open sweep across the Andaman Sea. Arrive for the late-afternoon light and stay through sunset; the view does most of the decorating, which is fortunate because sunsets remain stubbornly difficult to improve with soft furnishings.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner all fit here, especially if your group cannot agree on one cuisine. The menu has enough range for a mixed table, while the Thai dishes are the thing to focus on.
A few bungalows share the same sea-facing hill, so it is easy to turn dinner into a very short commute. The kitchen can prepare a whole fresh barracuda when the catch is in, and that is the meal to build an evening around.
