The ribs arrive with the sort of size and sticky seriousness that makes sharing a sensible treaty between adults. Koala does big Western comfort food properly, from flaming fajitas and smash burgers to a tuna steak that has no business being this good beside the Andaman.
Thai cooking is not an afterthought on a menu built for sunset drinks. Get the tropical red soup, khao soi, yellow noodles or pineapple rice, then settle into a beach table as the light drops over the water. The fish special is worth checking too; the kitchen builds the accompaniments around the catch.
Strawberry margaritas and mango daiquiris belong here, ideally with sand under the chair and a sunset doing its expensive-looking thing for free. Live music appears on selected evenings, while the menu also covers pizzas, fish and chips, roast dinners and a vegan Beyond Meat burger with fries and coleslaw.
