Klong Jark Bungalow
Description
Sea-view bungalows sit a few seconds from Klong Jark’s sand, with sunset swims, kayaks and a reef patch off the northern end for a mask-and-fins morning. The beach stays quiet, especially compared with the busier north of Koh Lanta, and Mu Ko Lanta National Park is close enough for an easy outing.
The rooms are simple beach huts with air conditioning, comfortable beds and very little ceremony. Expect geckos, cats, sand underfoot and basic storage. That is part of the deal: the sea is practically at the doorstep, which beats decorative cushions by several nautical miles.
The beach restaurant is worth using even if you sleep elsewhere. Pad Thai and mango sticky rice are the reliable picks, while vegetarian and vegan options go beyond the sad plate of steamed vegetables often mistaken for effort. Evening tables on the sand catch the fire show and the last light over the bay.
Sue can arrange island transport, day trips and scooter hire, which is useful down here where the road has fewer distractions than a government waiting room. Rent a bike for Old Town and the southern park, then get back before sunset for dinner with your feet in the sand.
