Klong Jak Beach
Description
Klong Jak’s sandy bottom, fishy shallows and mountain-backed bay put it near the top of Lanta’s southern beaches. At higher tide, the water has enough depth for a proper swim; at low tide, the reef and rock patches reveal themselves for snorkelling.
The west-facing curve delivers the sunset without the Long Beach circus. A handful of beach bars and restaurants supply fruit shakes, lunch, cold beer and loungers, while trees and bamboo shelters break up the hard southern-island sun.
Watch your footing in the water. Submerged rocks disappear at high tide, then return with all the subtlety of a geological ambush. Both ends of the bay hold the better snorkelling, with fish around the exposed rock offshore.
Access takes a little hunting because resort driveways dominate the roadside. Use the larger parking area near the southern end and follow the path through to the sand; the beach opens into a long, quiet stretch with enough room to avoid anyone else’s soundtrack.
