Description
Chicken mataba, panang shrimp and a bowl of homemade Greek yogurt make Jeab’s Dining far more than another beach table with a laminated menu. The mataba has become the thing to chase here: crisp pastry around spiced chicken, built for dunking and disappearing before the sunset does.
Breakfast has proper range. Greek yogurt arrives thick, cold and piled with fruit; omelettes and tofu pad Thai cover the less adventurous morning and lunch crowd. Vegetarian choices are taken seriously, especially tofu satay with peanut sauce and fresh vegetable summer rolls.
Dinner belongs to the curries. Massaman chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken and Szechuan chicken all pull their weight, while the panko calamari and fried shrimp make a convincing start. Portions run enormous, so ordering one dish each is an optimistic use of abdominal capacity.
The beachfront tables face the sunset, though the shore below is rocky and not for swimming. Live acoustic sets and the occasional Elvis act turn dinner into a small, slightly surreal evening by the sea.
