Description
Panang curry is the order here, with enough depth to take medium or spicy heat without turning into a bowl of red panic. Pad Thai, red curry, cashew chicken and seafood in tamarind sauce keep the Thai side of the menu doing the useful work.
Jameji sits about 200 metres down the lane off the main road beside 7-Eleven, on the way to Klong Dao Beach. It is plain, small and relaxed, with plastic-chair practicality. That is precisely why it remains a better dinner bet than many of the pricier beachfront menus.
The menu wanders through Thai dishes, sandwiches, burgers and breakfast territory, but Thai food is the sensible lane. Vegetarians have plenty to choose from, and the kids’ play area gives parents a few uninterrupted minutes with their curry – a luxury usually priced in gold.
It is cheap, quick and reliably good for repeat meals near Klong Dao. The seafood tamarind dish is the one to chase after the curry, especially if sweet-sour sauce is more your speed than chilli.
