Indira Fusion
Description
Pani puri arrives bright, crisp and properly refreshing, which is a bold opening move on Koh Lanta’s main road. Follow it with onion bhaji, then let the curries do their considerable work.
The gravies carry the kitchen: fish curry, Madras, chicken tikka masala and paneer butter masala all bring deep spice and creamy weight without flattening into one generic orange situation. Medium spice has heat, flavour and enough restraint to keep dinner from becoming an endurance sport.
Vegetarians have proper choices here, not the usual sad diplomatic appendix. Malai kofta, aloo gobi, chana masala, raita and stuffed naan cover a full meal, while lamb dishes bring tender meat for committed carnivores. Garlic butter naan is closer to a soft roti than the balloon-sized versions found elsewhere.
The dining room has smart decor, proper cutlery and roadside seats for watching Long Beach traffic conduct its nightly ballet. Wine by the glass, mango juice and gulab jamun give the meal a civilised finish; the mango juice deserves its own fan club.
