Description

Fish curry and yellow curry are the reason to stop at Hula Hula House, especially while stuck in Saladan waiting for a ferry. The kitchen turns out proper Thai food at cheap prices, with enough flavour to make the pier-side options look like they were assembled during a power cut.

The restaurant sits close to the ferry area, handy for lunch after arrival or before departure. Take a short walk away from the terminal noise, sit down, and let the curry solve the usual “what now?” problem.

Rooms are bargain-basement accommodation for a single night near the boats. They are tiny, hot partitioned spaces with limited privacy, no lift, and shared bathrooms; sound travels freely through the building. Treat them as a bed near the pier, not a holiday base.

Saladan has better places to sleep once the ferry has gone, but the food here deserves its own stop. The yellow curry carries enough spice and richness to justify returning without luggage.
