Description

Kantiang Bay spreads straight below the terrace, with sunset front and centre and enough room downstairs to stretch out on a sun lounger. The view is the kind that makes a cold coconut feel suspiciously well planned.

Seafood Pad Thai is the strongest order here: properly wok-fired noodles, fresh seafood and no need to perform a forensic search for flavour. The green curry lands rich and fragrant, while the Penang curry brings the creamy, peanutty comfort food side of Thai cooking.

Morning glory gets more attention than a plate of greens has any right to demand, and earns it. Fruit shakes are made with fresh fruit; mango and passion fruit are the picks, while the coconut juice arrives doing exactly what a sunset drink should.

The music leans easygoing, the setting stays relaxed, and the kitchen also turns out a solid chicken burger for anyone temporarily defeated by rice and noodles. Settle in before the light drops over the bay; this is one of Kantiang’s proper sunset tables, not a chair pointed vaguely seaward.
