Klong Khong beach is the entire point here: bungalows, a simple beach restaurant and a few low-key bars within stumbling distance of the sand. Green Garden suits travellers who want sea views, cold air-con and a cheap base without pretending the room is a design project.
Breakfast is the strongest bet, with eggs, rice dishes and simple Thai plates suited to a slow morning by the water. Keep coffee expectations modest; it comes instant. The restaurant is small, relaxed and better for beach-time than a quick lunch between ferry connections.
The bungalows have air-con, hot water, private bathrooms and ocean-facing outlooks. They are basic, dated and lightly furnished, with limited storage and uneven water pressure in some showers. Cats, goats and chickens wander around the grounds, adding character and a small amount of farmyard logic to proceedings.
The pool is secondary to the sea and looks it. For a quiet Klong Khong stay, take the beachfront bungalow and spend the evening on the sand.
