Description

Red curry with chicken and green curry with prawns are the sensible picks here, eaten a few metres from the sand at Nui Bay. Panang curry, vegetable fried rice and a cold coconut drink also land well after the walk down through the trees.

The setting does most of the talking: a small cove, pale sand, cliffs visible from the path, and far fewer bodies than the island’s busier beach strips. Settle in for lunch, swim between courses, then return to your plate before the monkeys decide it has become communal property.

Food & Drink is basic beach-cove dining, with plastic chairs and a compact kitchen. Prices stay cheap for a beachfront stop, and the curries carry far more conviction than the tempura or Pad Thai.

Keep bags, sunglasses and snacks close while eating or swimming; monkeys patrol the cove with the focus of creatures who have seen a tourist leave a tote bag unattended.
