Description
Chicken banh mi is the reason Food By Dox has a following: a crisp baguette, juicy grilled chicken, coriander, plenty of vegetables, and a proper hit of seasoning. The homegrown jackfruit version is stranger in the good way, while the Isaan sandwich brings Thai spice into a format built for eating with one hand.
Fruit pancakes arrive piled with fresh fruit, and the pita pockets hold up their end of the bargain. Falafel is crisp, hummus is made in-house, and the bowls lean fresh. Iced Americano and coconut shakes are the right answer before the road heats up.
The café sits within the Dox resort grounds, tucked among plants, cushions and a small waterfall wall. Music stays low enough for conversation, which is rarer than it should be on this island. Settle in at the garden tables; the place has the relaxed confidence of somewhere that knows its banh mi is doing most of the talking.
Breakfast is the strongest play, especially for anyone bored of another plate of eggs with a view. Food By Dox also puts on fish evenings and backyard events during high season, with a large open garden behind the café.
