Description
Thai triangle pillows, hammocks and low beach beds point straight at the sunset here, a few metres from the water. Fin’s is built for losing track of time with a cold drink and a reggae playlist, not for wearing shoes that cost more than your scooter rental.
Ram’s Piña Colada is the house call, with Bacardi’s Dream, passionfruit mojitos and Thai-whisky cocktails giving the menu proper range. The adjoining kitchen sends over pad thai, vegetable soup and a cream of tomato soup that has no business being this good beside a beach bar.
After dark, the cushions fill out, the music gets louder and the pool table starts collecting competitors. There is also a swimming pool with a slide, because somewhere along the line restraint was sensibly abandoned.
Solo travellers settle in easily, especially around sunset, and reggae fans can park themselves here for the evening. The beach in front has a softer, less rocky stretch than much of Lanta’s west coast, so a quick swim before the first cocktail is entirely plausible.
