Escape Café
Description
The cappuccino frappe, yuzu matcha and Tropical Bowl pull more weight here than most beach-café menus on Lanta. Coffee is properly handled, with beans ground in-house and a seasonal medium blend that avoids the usual island habit of roasting everything into coal.
Three seating modes cover the day: air-conditioned indoor tables, shaded terrace seats, and beanbags on the sand. The beach frontage is the draw, especially near sunset, with an outdoor shower handy after a swim. The sea view has done very little to earn its own reputation, which is irritatingly typical.
The Tropical Bowl comes piled with crunchy coconut flakes, while the acai bowl, shakes, banana cake and ice cream handle the sweeter side well. Bagels are the stronger savoury bet, particularly smoked salmon; the tacos and Reuben are not why you crossed the island.
Expect a polished, beach-club-adjacent crowd and prices above the local kopi shop. Escape Café rewards coffee-focused mornings, long laptop sessions by the sand, and anyone requiring decaf without treating it as a medical emergency.
