The restaurant by the pool turns out proper Thai food at low-key resort prices, with Mama running the kitchen side of things. Rent a scooter here too; the southern end of Koh Lanta is spread out, and the nearest proper supermarket is several kilometres away.
Rooms range from renovated pool-and-ocean-facing units to older bungalows with dated interiors. Book a premium sea-view room or a recently renovated pool-facing room, not a vague room category with optimism doing all the packing.
The beach is rocky and swimming is best around high tide, though it is good for a shoreline walk and crab-spotting. This is for Budget long-stayers, Solo traveler types, and anyone happy to trade polished-resort gloss for sunsets, pool time, and a scooter-based island routine.
