Description
Giant tiger prawns hit the grill beside the sand at Cocoloco, with the sunset doing its usual unpaid shift over the Andaman. BBQ nights centre on choosing fresh fish, prawns, skewers and corn before they go over the coals.
Chicken with cashew nuts is the Thai dish to back here: crisp cashews, proper sauce, and enough reason to return beyond the view. Moo kratiem with extra-crispy garlic also lands well, while the seafood glass noodle salad keeps dinner light. The garlic bread has no business being this good at a beach bar, yet here we are.
Live bands turn the seafront tables into a long, easy evening, and Chang draught, coconut shakes, Aperol Spritzes and the cocktail list all fit the setting. There is a vegetarian menu, plus pizza, pasta and familiar Western plates for mixed groups.
Cocoloco is for sunset drinks, grilled seafood and music with bare feet in the sand. Thai cooking here has its high points, but the beach BBQ and chicken cashew nuts are the sharper bets; the view has already done enough work.
