Description
Chicken burgers, chicken cashew and coconut milk curry carry Cloud 9 far better than the sprawling menu suggests. The Massaman curry also lands well, while the Indian side of the menu is best left for another night.
The room keeps its old beach-bar soul despite sitting on the main road now: reggae drifting through an open, handmade-looking hut, wind chimes, odd little decorations and a free pool table. Settle in after dark for cocktails and chilled music, not a sunset view.
Thai, Western and a few Indian dishes share the menu, which is handy for a mixed group with incompatible cravings – mankind’s oldest dinner problem. Portions are on the smaller side, so hungry eaters should plan accordingly.
Cloud 9 suits a low-cost, unhurried meal around Klong Khong, especially for burgers, curries and a beer after the beach. The chicken cashew has enough savoury bite to deserve repeat visits, and the pool table gives the evening somewhere to go after dinner.
