Fresh croissants, proper Khao Soi and a shaded kids’ playground put Cicada Lanta several laps ahead of the usual Klong Dao breakfast stop. The oven-fresh croissant is the early winner, while avocado and egg on toast, sausage breakfasts and iced coffee cover the slower morning crowd.
Lunch and dinner have more ambition than the café name suggests. Pad Thai, chicken panang curry, cashew nut chicken, ginger beef and morning glory are the Thai dishes to chase. The nachos and truffle mushroom soup also land well, which is an unusually broad passport for one kitchen.
The room is leafy, calm and close to Klong Dao Beach, with enough space to linger over fresh juice or brunch. Families get an indoor play area plus shaded outdoor play space, so children can burn off the pancake energy somewhere other than your lap.
Cash only, so sort that before settling into the cushions. Cicada Lanta is strongest for breakfast with children, then stays useful when the table wants curry, sandwiches and banana spring rolls without splitting into separate camps.
