Description

The bungalows at Cicada Lanta put you a few minutes from the beach, with a bar, cafe and restaurant waiting back at base. They are small wooden cabins with comfortable beds, quiet air-conditioning and Smart TVs, built for beach days and scooter loops.

Breakfast is cooked fresh, and the kitchen pulls off properly good Thai food alongside coffee and iced lattes. The steamed fish runs sweet, so steer toward other Thai dishes if sugar in savoury food makes you question civilisation.

Beach towels and snorkelling gear are available to borrow, which saves carrying damp fabric around in your scooter basket. The main road, 7-Eleven, pharmacies, massage spots and plenty of restaurants sit close by, so this is a practical base for working through Long Beach and the rest of the island.

The cabin style is deliberately rustic: dark interiors, limited storage and no in-room safe. Light sleepers should choose a room away from the road, because motorbikes and neighbouring bungalows can make themselves known after dark.
