Description
Sunset from the pool is the headline here: sea, treetops and the west coast turning orange while you sit in the water. Chom Dao sits on a hill above a quiet beach, with small restaurants and bars down the road.
The bamboo huts are the pick for character. They are simple, clean and cosy, with mosquito nets, a fridge, kettle, hot shower and air conditioning in the rooms. Space is tight between cabins, so this is for relaxed island living, not private-villa theatrics.
Fai’s glass noodles deserve a detour even without a room key. The restaurant handles breakfast, Thai food, drinks and sunset dinners, and the flavours are far more ambitious than the hillside setting suggests. The pool is compact, but nobody came here to train for the Channel.
Scooter rental, laundry, transfers and island tours can all be arranged on site, which saves a lot of wandering about in helmet hair. The steep little hill is the trade: a short ride down reaches the beach, while the resort keeps the road noise below.
