Chedi Restaurant
Description
Stir-fried basil chicken arrives properly spicy, and the Thai curries have more purpose than the resort-menu greatest-hits section. Tom yum, tom kha gai, massaman curry, satay and stir-fried noodles are the orders to pin your hopes on.
The tables face the beach at SriLanta Resort, with drinks, sand and a broad sea view doing their bit for a slow lunch or sunset dinner. It is quiet enough to hear the cutlery reconsidering its life choices.
Breakfast is functional resort fuel, best taken early before the buffet loses momentum. Fresh juices start later in the day, and the room runs hot without much help from fans.
Prices sit with the beachfront bars, not the small local shophouses inland. Western food is the weak flank: pizza is thin and forgettable, while the burger and club sandwich are safer bets if Thai food is temporarily beyond the pale.
The beach-facing seats along the front give the best view, especially on a clear afternoon.
