Description

Red snapper steak, curry-fried fish and the Klong Nin sunset put Blue Moon ahead of the usual sand-and-Singha operation. Beach mats, umbrellas, deck chairs and tables spread straight across the sand, with a clean swimming stretch in front and no rocks waiting to introduce themselves to your toes.

The kitchen has more ambition than most beach bars. Panaeng and massaman curries carry proper flavour, chicken satay and shrimp tempura handle the beer-duty snacks, and pineapple fried rice, vegetable fried rice and pad thai cover the familiar Thai favourites.

Coconut shakes are absurdly good. The apple, orange, carrot and ginger juice gives you a brief opportunity to pretend the cocktails are part of a health programme (science remains divided).

After dark, lights along the beach and fire shows turn dinner into a proper Klong Nin evening. House music stays chilled, cold beers fit the job, and the waterline mats have the cleanest view once the sun starts dropping behind the Andaman.
