At Lanta Cafe & Baker
Description
Thick matcha cheesecake, caramel macadamia cheesecake, and tiramisu are the reason At Lanta has more pull than a standard Old Town coffee stop. The tiramisu lands properly: creamy, coffee-led, and closer to an Italian version than the usual tropical approximation.
Coffee is taken seriously here. Cappuccinos have dense foam and a strong roast, while iced oat lattes, Thai-style coffee esyen, Thai tea with coconut milk, and the matcha coconut drink cover the colder end of the menu. Try the coconut cocoa foam for its dark chocolate bitterness and coconut-water sweetness; it avoids becoming a sugar ambush.
The front room has air-conditioning, useful after Old Town’s heat has turned every shirt into a regrettable document. Walk through the long shophouse to the back terrace for soft seating and a bay-facing view, where lingering over cake becomes a perfectly defensible use of an afternoon.
Prices sit above the island’s roadside coffee stalls. Pay it for the baking, the coffee, and that rear view; the banana bread, raspberry cheesecake, cookies, muffins, pastries, and cakes give non-coffee drinkers plenty to investigate.
