Ananda Lanta Resort

Description

The infinity pool and sea-facing balconies are the reason Ananda Lanta still gets picked, especially at its cheaper end. Rooms are large, many have a separate bath and shower, and the better-facing floors catch a proper Andaman view.

The location is useful: a short walk from the beach, restaurants and coffee nearby, with a 7-Eleven across the road. That road is the catch. Beach access means crossing it, so this isn’t the place for wandering out barefoot with a sleepy toddler.

Expect an older resort with a patchy level of upkeep. Some rooms feel spacious and well furnished; others feel dated, with hard beds, basic televisions and temperamental showers. The pool sits up a long run of stairs, which is fine after breakfast and less charming after a day on the motorbike.

Book a sea-view room if the price gap is small, and treat the property as a roomy base near Klong Dao. The faded pool deck has the air of a once-grand ship waiting for paint, but the sunset-facing water still does its job.
