Description
Koh Rok and Koh Haa are Opal Travel’s strongest day out: fast speedboats, proper snorkelling stops, and coral-and-fish territory that leaves the Four Islands route looking a bit underdressed. The boats carry masks, fins, water and shade, with a beach lunch folded into the day.
Private speedboat charters suit families with very small children, especially for setting a pace that does not involve negotiating nap time against a boat full of holiday optimism. Baby life jackets are available, and the crew can tow nervous swimmers on a float ring so nobody has to admire the reef from a philosophical distance.
Phi Phi, Maya Bay, Bamboo Island and Pileh Lagoon are on the menu too, along with the Four Islands trip. Phi Phi delivers the famous locations and the full armada of boats; choose Koh Rok and Koh Haa for the better underwater day, or Four Islands for a quieter, more unhurried route.
Ask for Sunny, Jessie, Rut or Phan on a guided trip. The Koh Rok national park walk is steep and long, but the lookout earns the sweaty shirt.
