The Banana Colada is the right excuse to claim a seat facing the water at Sela Lanta. The beach bar has shaded tables, sun loungers and a small patch of lawn above the sand, so bare feet survive the brutal middle of the day.
Ocean-view rooms are the stronger half of the operation: clean, carefully designed and fitted with deeply comfortable beds. Bedrooms look straight towards the sea, while Netflix and YouTube Premium handle the rare occasion that Koh Lanta’s sunset fails to hold your attention.
The bar comes alive late afternoon, with good music, cocktails and a clear run at the sunset. Banana shakes suit the daytime; the Banana Colada and Malibu Pineapple belong near dusk. Cocktails run sweet, which is either a feature or a small tropical ambush.
Food comes from Cook Kai next door, so treat Sela as the place for drinks, views and a slow evening. The clear-bottom kayak is worth borrowing for a gentle paddle along the shoreline, where the white sand and shallow water do most of the visual work.
