International Buddhist Meditation Center
Description
Walking meditation in the open hall, followed by seated practice beside a small waterfall – that is the useful bit here. A monk leads a simple session around the “buddho” mantra, with enough English explanation for complete beginners to follow without pretending they have read three shelves of Buddhism.
The grounds are leafy, quiet and deliberately unfussy. You sit on stone, walk slowly, and discover that thirty minutes can be both very long and strangely brief. The resident monk has spent decades practising in forest settings, so this feels closer to a monastery visit than a wellness class with scented cushions.
The guided group meditation includes an introduction, walking practice, seated meditation and space for questions. No advance registration is needed. The centre also suits a solo pause in the garden, though the guided practice gives the place its point.
Park at the first scooter area and walk in from there. Dogs roam near the approach, while monkeys patrol the garden for loose belongings – enlightenment apparently still requires basic bag management.
