Chofah Restaurant
Description
Chicken with cashew nuts is the plate to chase at Chofah: glossy, savoury, properly loaded, and far more memorable than a roadside stop has any right to be. Green curry, beef pineapple fried rice and Tom Yum chicken noodles also land with enough flavour to justify the detour across Koh Lanta Noi.
The restaurant sits among palms, forest and low hills, with a quiet garden view that makes lunch stretch pleasantly. Evening is even better, once the light drops and the jungle starts making its own soundtrack. No beach frontage, no neon, no carefully engineered island theatre – just trees and a table.
Fresh pineapple juice is worth ordering during pineapple season, and the mango sticky rice arrives as a serious dessert. Portions are generous enough to derail ambitious ordering plans, which is one of the more agreeable failures available on an island drive.
Chofah suits food-focused riders exploring Lanta Noi and anyone bored of eating beside the main-road traffic on Lanta Yai. It is a small family-run stop, so the charm is in slowing down, looking at the greenery and letting the cashew chicken do its very convincing work.
