Description

Pulled pork sandwiches, sharp green curry and proper cappuccinos make Lanta’s Cafe the most convincing food stop on Lanta Noi. This is not a roadside coffee shack with a sad muffin under glass. The kitchen takes breakfast and Thai classics seriously.

The green curry has depth and heat without turning into a bowl of sweet coconut soup. Pair it with the tomato salad and its house vinaigrette, or go for fried noodles after a lap around the island. Pancakes, waffles and sandwiches arrive in generous portions, while the yoghurt, fruit and homemade granola bowl is a solid hot-day breakfast.

Coffee is the other reason to stop. The espresso is handled with care, cappuccinos have proper foam, and Thai tea holds its own. Sesame milk is available for a dairy-free cappuccino, which is rarer here than a scooter with both mirrors intact.

Save room for mango sticky rice with ice cream, mango sundae, or the affogato – vanilla ice cream dropped into espresso, because restraint was never invited to this party. The cafe sits on the quiet Lanta Noi roads, so it fits a scooter loop far better than a rushed ferry connection.
