Description

The hand-built 1953 house facing the bay is the whole point here, with a lawn, deep shade and a broken pier stretching into the water like a prop from an abandoned film set. The view is quiet, and sunset lands softly over Koh Lanta Noi.

Getting there is half the outing. The road runs through green, lightly settled northern Lanta Noi and ends at this tucked-away strip of coast, far from the beach-road circus. A scooter gives you the freedom to stop for rubber trees, fishing villages and the sort of silence that makes your phone seem unnecessarily ambitious.

The old three-storey house has far more character than the scenery alone. Its unusual shape, garden and bay-facing terrace make it a good stop for anyone who enjoys odd island architecture and places with no queue, soundtrack or matching linen cushions.

Don’t arrive expecting a polished café stop or a famous sunset platform. The pier has collapsed, the restaurant may be shut, and the attraction is the ride, the old house and having the shoreline largely to yourself.
