Twelve elephants roam through forest while the group follows at a respectful distance. No riding, bathing, touching or tourist feeding happens here; the elephants choose the route and the pace.
The two-hour walk suits anyone who wants to watch elephants behave like elephants: browsing, wandering between trees, and getting on with the serious business of being enormous. Guides May, Chan, Ray, Ron, Seron and Dada know the individual histories and herd relationships, so it feels less like staring at wildlife and more like being introduced to a complicated neighbourhood.
