Laem Tanod Nature Trail
Description
Dusky leaf monkeys, a lighthouse above the headland, and a proper bit of jungle make this the best walk inside Mu Ko Lanta National Park. The trail starts behind the parking area and drops you at the beach after roughly an hour of roots, concrete slabs and coastal forest.
The first stretch climbs hard, with steps, ropes and a few awkward patches under low branches. Wear trainers with grip; slippers can survive it, but so can a surprising number of bad ideas. The steep sections turn slick after rain, and broken tiles demand attention.
Slow down beneath the trees. Dusky leaf monkeys feed high in the canopy, while lizards, frogs and birds turn up for anyone not stomping through at full holiday speed. The forest is the point, not a corridor between car park and sand.
Finish at the beach and climb toward the lighthouse for the headland view. Take the nature loop before settling on the sand, because walking it backwards turns the best finale into a slightly sweaty opening act.
