Bamboo Beach
Description
White sand, grazing cattle and a long empty shoreline make Bamboo Beach feel properly south-Lanta – raw, quiet and a little untamed. The northern end has a couple of small beach bars and sunbeds; the southern stretch is mostly sand, trees and sea.
The water stays calm enough for a float, with clear patches over pale sand. Rocks sit under the surface in several sections, so walk in slowly and save the heroic beach-entry leap for somewhere with fewer geological surprises. Snorkelling around the rockier edges turns up small marine life.
This beach rewards anyone happy with a scooter ride and very little infrastructure. There are no toilets or showers, shade is limited across the open sand, and rubbish gathers around the parking and tree line.
Monkeys patrol the wooded end and scooter area with unsettling confidence. Keep food, bags and water out of reach, secure the scooter storage, and settle near the bars or the middle of the beach if you want a quieter patch of sand. Sunset here is a clean view of the sun dropping into the Andaman, with no resort soundtrack trying to improve it.
