Lanta Thai Homestay
Description
Blue pea flower welcome drinks, fruit plates and homemade breakfast bread set the tone at Lanta Thai Homestay. The rooms are new, spacious and properly clean, with modern bathrooms and beds built for sleeping after a day on the scooter.
The on-site restaurant is the useful bit here, not decorative hotel furniture with a menu beside it. Eat dinner under the edible plants, then sign up for a Thai cooking class if you want to leave Koh Lanta with more than a sunburn and an alarming attachment to chilli.
Scooters are available on site, which matters because this sits around the island’s middle and rewards anyone planning to cover both north and south. The roadside position puts plenty of island stops within easy riding distance, while the garden keeps the rooms from feeling like they were dropped beside a petrol station.
Three breakfast choices keep mornings simple, and the attached cafe handles the caffeine situation. Friendly resident dogs and cats wander about, so animal-allergy sufferers should choose another base; everyone else gets a pair of furry receptionists with very limited interest in paperwork.
