Lanta Yoga
Description
Long-held poses before the flow give Lanta Yoga more bite than the island’s stretch-and-chat sessions. Caroline teaches a vinyasa-hatha blend that starts with breath, sun salutations and steady alignment, then lets you choose between easing off or testing your balance.
The open-air sala sits up a signed hill from the main road, wrapped in gardens and bird noise. Fans and the breeze keep the morning class workable, while rain during savasana is about as close to a soundtrack as Koh Lanta gets.
Beginners get props, clear alternatives and time to find the shape. Regular practitioners get enough holds and transitions to leave knowing their hamstrings have been consulted. Classes run around 90 minutes, so this is proper practice, not a ceremonial lunge followed by coconut water.
Bring insect repellent and arrive before the class begins; ants and mosquitoes have their own ideas about shared space. The hilltop sala is the point – you can hear the road only long enough to remember how quickly it disappears.
