Coconut Palm Beach
Description
Palm shade and a west-facing sunset are Coconut Palm Beach’s useful tricks. The shoreline is quiet, with enough space to sit under the trees and watch the light drop behind the islands.
Swimming is not the point here. Rocks line much of the water’s edge, the beach falls away steeply, and low tide leaves mud, stones and a rather reduced-looking sea. High tide brings clearer water and a little snorkelling close to shore, provided feet are protected.
Walk south to the end of the beach for the viewpoint. Coconut Palm Beach sits on one side, Beautiful Beach on the other, and the headland supplies the sort of two-for-one coastal view normally reserved for postcards with suspiciously aggressive colour settings.
Go for shade, solitude and sunset, not a carefree dip. The shore has washed-up debris in places, and the rocks make it a poor choice for children charging seawards at full velocity.
