Sea Shell Beach Resort
Description
The pool faces the Andaman, the barbecue fires up after dark, and breakfast lands with a beach view. Sea Shell is a small, leafy beachfront resort with simple bungalows, cocktails, Thai food and massages set right beside the sand.
The rooms are clean, spacious enough for a proper stay, and deliberately no-frills. Expect air-con, storage and a patio in some rooms; do not expect boutique interiors, television screens or mattresses designed by clouds. Room 1A has a large bed and a full sea view from its patio.
Evenings are the strong suit. Grab a table by the water for grilled seafood, cold drinks and sunset, then wander south along the beach to nearby bars. The resort sits away from the main road, so the soundtrack is waves, pool splashing and the occasional massage call drifting down the sand.
A motorbike is useful for seeing the island, especially beyond this stretch of coast. The beach directly outside is rocky in places, so swim shoes help; the pool is the better place for a long, lazy dip.
